Writing Resolutions at Caucus

HAVE A HAND IN THE REPUBLICAN PARTY PLATFORM!

One of the things that happens at a precinct caucus is that we vote to promote Resolutions. Resolutions are statements of a position on a governmental or political matter, accompanied by reasoning justifying that position. If you are passionate about an issue on which you would like the Republican party to take a position, consider writing a resolution.

Resolutions are written and passed at your precinct caucus, are considered and consolidated at the county assembly, and may in some form become part of the party platforms at both the state and federal level. In this way an individual Republican can have an influence on the principles that guide decisions and actions of local, state, and federal governments.

There is a specific format that is expected for resolutions. It is best to have any resolution drafted and ready for a vote prior to the caucus meeting. Resolutions submitted at caucus should be brief; they will enlarge as they are merged with similar resolutions at county, state and national levels.

Attached is a form and some basic instructions for composing resolutions. Also attached are some “model resolutions” proposed by various groups around the state of Colorado. These may serve as a great starting point for a resolution you wish to submit at caucus.
